The National Youth Council of Trinidad and Tobago Print E-mail

Over the last year, UWISE has had representation on the Government appointed Task Force for the formation of a National Youth Council of Trinidad and Tobago (NYCTT). We include some information about what the NYCTT is intended to be for our young people.

The National Youth Council of Trinidad and Tobago (NYCTT) is an NGO serving as the umbrella body of youth and youth organizations in Trinidad & Tobago. It ensures the ‘voice of youth’ on issues that concern and impact on the youth of the country are articulated and addressed and that youth participate and contribute to national development in a positive and meaningful way.

The NYCTT also has a critical role to play in strengthening the youth sector and bring a sense of unity, collaboration and partnership at a national level.

Young people representing youth organisations across the nation were called together at a consultation at Crowne Plaza in September 2006, and chose a 'Task Force' of twenty five people to create this NYCTT.

Over the last year or so, the team has worked through many challenges, but has been able to make considerable progress toward its goal. During the month of September district meetings and fairs have been held in each of the administrative districts in Trinidad and Tobago, at which information about NYCTT was readily available.
