For the last three years, UWISE has participated in volunteer projects with the Religious Youth Service (RYS). We have attended projects in Jamaica in 2006, and Suriname in 2007 and 2008. There members worked with various NGOs and communities giving service while also participating in workshops in teambuilding and leadership. Through this programme at the end of their service, they returned as Youth Ambassadors for Peace. This year, we have been given the opportunity by RYS International to host one of these projects in Trinidad and Tobago. Participants will visit the Wildlife Orphanage and Rehabilitation Center (WORC) in Petit Valley, Trinidad. WORC has treated a wide range of sick or injured wild animals, including this one-winged pelican (pictured at right). Once the animals are healthy, they are released to continue their lives in the wild. For those who have participated in UWISE projects in the past, you know that we take great effort in --ensuring that our participants have exciting and life changing experiences while giving back to the community. This is your chance to give back, and assist with planning another successful project. There is much to do, and so we are inviting our members and volunteers to participate in the project from the pre-planning and preparatory phase. We are also providing scholarships for two persons to participate in the project in August of this year but we need your help in order pull together a project of this magnitude.
